In the early hours of February 17, 2025, Delhi-NCR was rocked by a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. The tremors were felt across the region, waking up thousands of residents and disrupting their morning routines.
Many reported feeling a sudden shaking and hearing loud noises as the earthquake rattled buildings. “The windows were rattling, and the walls were creaking. I knew right away that it was an earthquake,” said Rahul Gupta, a resident of East Delhi. “It was over in a few seconds, but it felt intense.”
While the earthquake caused panic, authorities quickly issued statements reassuring the public that no significant damage had occurred. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) teams were sent to inspect buildings and infrastructure.
Local government officials urged residents to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols in case of any aftershocks. Given the earthquake’s proximity to the center of Delhi, officials noted the need for continued preparedness in the region.
