Nitish Kumar Vows to Avoid Political Reversals, Focusing on Long-term Goals

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has vowed to avoid future political reversals and emphasized his commitment to focusing on long-term development goals for the state. In a candid acknowledgment of his past mistakes—specifically his exits from the NDA—Kumar has promised that his future political decisions will be guided by a clear vision for Bihar’s future.

Kumar’s political career has often been marked by unpredictability, particularly regarding his alliances. His first split from the NDA came in 2013, when he left the coalition over the BJP’s decision to elevate Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate. His return to the NDA in 2017 raised questions about his consistency, and his second departure in 2022 solidified the perception that he was prone to sudden political shifts.

However, in recent statements, Kumar has expressed regret over these frequent realignments, calling them errors in judgment. He reassured both his supporters and critics that this time, he would focus on Bihar’s long-term development and avoid such abrupt political decisions in the future. Kumar’s renewed focus on governance, as opposed to political maneuvering, could signal a new chapter in his leadership, one that prioritizes stability and progress for Bihar.
