President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Naidu, and PM Modi among many other dignitaries congratulate Droupadi Murmu on being elected as 15th President of India.

President Ram Nath Kovind has congratulated and conveyed best wishes to Smt Droupadi Murmu on being elected as the 15th President of India.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has congratulated Smt. Droupadi Murmu on being elected as the 15th President of India. In a tweet, Mr Naidu said, his wide experience in public life, spirit of selfless service, and deep understanding of people’s issues will greatly benefit the nation. The Vice President extended best wishes to her for a successful tenure.

Congratulating her, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, her role in giving voice to hopes and aspirations of people is exemplary. He hopes that under her able guidance, people of the country will make a leading contribution in building a New India.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also congratulated Smt. Drupadi Murmu Ji on this feat. In a series of tweets, Mr Modi said, India has scripted history. He said, at a time when 1.3 billion Indians are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a daughter of India hailing from a tribal community born in a remote part of eastern India has been elected our President. The Prime Minister said, Smt Murmu Ji’s life, her early struggles, her rich service, and her exemplary success motivates each and every Indian.

Mr Modi said, she has emerged as a ray of hope for our citizens, especially the poor, marginalized and downtrodden. He said, Smt Murmu has been an outstanding MLA and Minister and she had an excellent tenure as Jharkhand Governor. Mr Modi expressed confidence that she will be an outstanding President who will lead from the front and strengthen India’s development journey. The Prime Minister thanked all those MPs and MLAs across party lines who have supported the candidature of Ms Murmu. Mr Modi said, her record victory augurs well for our democracy.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has congratulated Draupadi Murmu on being elected as President of India. In a tweet, Mr Shah said, coming from a very simple tribal family, NDA candidate Ms Murmu’s election as the President of India is a moment of great pride for the whole country. He said, this victory is a milestone in the direction of realizing the resolve of Antyodaya and empowerment of tribal society.

The Home Minister said, Ms Murmu has reached this highest position in the country today after fighting against the odd circumstances and it shows the immense power of our democracy. He said, even after so many struggles, the selfless spirit with which she devoted herself in the service of the country and society is an inspiration for all. Mr Shah expressed gratitude to the NDA allies, other political parties, and independent public representatives for voting in favor of Ms Murmu. He expressed confidence that Ms Murmu’s tenure as the 15th President of India will make the country more proud.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said Droupadi Murmu’s election as the 15th President is a statement of an authentic and inclusive India. In a tweet, Dr Jaishankar said today is a remarkable day for Indian democracy. He added that it will serve as an inspiration to millions of citizens as New India is not just an aspiration but is becoming a reality.

While speaking to reporters in Mumbai this evening, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur said it is indeed a moment of pride and honor that a tribal woman has been given the chance to serve as India’s President when the nation is celebrating the 75th year of its independence.

He added that Ms. Murmu’s journey from being a teacher to a legislator and now the First Citizen speaks a lot about her character and struggles. Mr. Thakur hoped that the newly elected President will serve the country to the best of her ability.

In a tweet, Mr Thakur said her humble background, public service, and rise to the highest office is inspiring for all. He said her victory reflects India’s inclusive and vibrant democratic values.
