A fatal clash at a Bangladesh Air Force base in Cox’s Bazar resulted in one person being killed and several others being injured. The incident occurred after a local man was detained for not wearing a helmet, sparking violent protests from local residents.

The altercation began when Shihab Kabir, a 30-year-old local, was stopped by air force personnel for failing to wear a helmet while riding his motorcycle. Kabir was taken inside the base for questioning, but the situation quickly escalated when a large group of residents from the nearby Samitipara area gathered in protest. What began as a peaceful demonstration soon turned violent, with the crowd throwing stones and other projectiles at the soldiers.

To restore order, military personnel fired warning shots into the air. However, this only further fueled the violence, and Kabir was fatally shot during the clash. The military has confirmed that several other people, including both civilians and military personnel, were injured.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement condemning the attack and blaming “miscreants” for the violence. The military maintains that their actions were in self-defense, and they have pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. Security measures have been stepped up in Cox’s Bazar to prevent further violence, and local authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
