Delhi Drain Murder: Husband’s Nose Pin Fails to Conceal His Guilt

A gruesome murder in Delhi, where a woman’s body was found floating in a drain, has taken a shocking turn. Her husband, whose attempt to cover his tracks with a nose pin ultimately led to his downfall, has been arrested after an intense investigation.

Grim Discovery

The morning of the discovery was anything but ordinary for the residents of Karol Bagh, a popular commercial area of Delhi. The body of 30-year-old Aarti Mehra was found by a street vendor, who initially thought it was a stray piece of debris in the water. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the figure was a woman, and police were quickly summoned.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Aarti’s body in a state of decomposition, with no signs of violence. However, a careful investigation revealed that she had been dead for at least a day, and there was a distinct item — a nose pin — lodged in her clothing. The nose pin didn’t match Aarti’s usual style, which raised immediate suspicions.

The Investigation Unfolds

Detectives reviewed Aarti’s life, speaking with family members, friends, and colleagues. Her husband, Rohit Mehra, was interviewed early in the investigation. Rohit claimed he had no idea how his wife ended up in the drain, stating that she had left their house the previous night after an argument.

Further investigation revealed a significant clue. Aarti’s family confirmed that she wore a nose pin made of gold, while the one found with her body was silver. The nose pin was traced to a store that had sold the same design to Rohit just a week earlier.

The Shocking Truth

Rohit, under intense interrogation, was soon unable to maintain his facade. Investigators uncovered the truth — Rohit had been having an affair for months with a woman named Suman. Aarti had discovered the affair and had threatened to expose it to their family and friends.

Fearing the loss of his social status and his access to his wife’s wealth, Rohit made the decision to murder Aarti. He lured her to a secluded spot on the pretense of reconciling, only to strangle her in a fit of rage. Afterward, he dumped her body in the drain, hoping it would be passed off as an accident. The nose pin found on her body belonged to Suman, his mistress, who had been to their house a few days earlier.

The Arrest and Aftermath

Rohit was arrested, and forensic evidence backed up the timeline and his confession. His affair and the subsequent murder of his wife painted a portrait of a man consumed by greed and insecurity.

This case serves as a tragic reminder of the destructive power of jealousy, deceit, and the lengths to which some people will go to cover their sins. Rohit faces a long trial ahead, while his victim’s family is left to cope with the brutal loss of a beloved daughter and sister.
