Atishi has come down hard on Rekha Gupta for her party’s failure to deliver on promises made to women in Delhi. According to Atishi, despite the BJP’s extensive election campaigns centered around women’s empowerment, there has been little to no progress in the areas that matter most to women, such as safety, education, and economic opportunity.

The BJP’s strategy in previous elections included promises of better security measures, financial support, and a more inclusive environment for women. However, Atishi pointed out that these pledges have largely been empty, and women in Delhi continue to face the same challenges, if not more.

The issue of women’s safety has been a perennial topic in Delhi, which has been notorious for its high number of cases of gender-based violence. Atishi’s attack on Gupta is an attempt to highlight the BJP’s disregard for these pressing concerns, particularly as the capital faces an increasingly unsafe environment for women.

Atishi’s frustration was evident in her statement, which focused on the BJP’s inability to make good on its promises. Gupta, as a prominent BJP leader, was called out for her personal role in these unfulfilled assurances, but the larger critique was of the party’s lack of accountability. Atishi’s call for real change and her insistence on the need for actionable policies were a direct challenge to Gupta and the BJP’s political approach.

As the political season heats up, the issue of women’s welfare and the parties’ track records will likely remain a focal point in the run-up to the next elections in Delhi.
